Today was... Interesting.

Long story short: I don't work for a big boring insurance company any more, as my position was eliminated due to budgetary stuff. The up side is, I was not fired, I have a severance package, and I have ties to two local consultants who might be able to line work up for me.

Oddly, it's almost a year to the day since I broke up with my boyfriend of 4 years, whom I started dating the week before I started the job.

So it seems I'm having something of an enforced fresh start. However, I'm right now preferring to think of it as a new opportunity.
